The Best of The Budget Brushes

Hey everyone!

I hope you're all doing well and having a lovely day!

For today's post, I wanted to share my favourite makeup brushes, and you'll  be glad to hear that after a few calculations, they're all under £10!

I find these 5 brushes to be perfect, and pretty much everything I need for my whole face. I know you're going to recommend to me the Real Techniques Buffing Brush, and I do really want that but it'll have to wait until I have the money to spare sadly! I've also got my eye on the Expert Face Brush... perhaps that'll be mine tomorrow, who knows?

From the left to the right, above, there's the No.7 Blend and Contour brush, the Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush, the Real Techniques Stippling Brush, Real Techniques Blush Brush and the So Eco Powder Brush.

Firstly, we have the No.7 Blend and Contour Brush. I was lucky enough to find this brush in the Boots clearance section for £2, and there was loads so thinking back now, I should have gotten a few as this is wonderful! It's £7.25 on the Boots website, and it looks the exact same so I think the reason for such a cheap find was because of a redesign. I adore this to use with the next brush you'll see, as I like to apply crease colour with the below brush and blend with this one. It is quite floppy, however there are no shedding issues here and I've found that it has truly filled the hole of my constant desire for a Mac 217!

Above you can see a close up of the Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush. This is only available in the Starter Set, however in that bundle you get 5 brushes for £21.99, working out at around £4.40 each! I know that's cheating, but I couldn't not include it! This is a very multipurpose brush which can be used for a variety of jobs, from blending concealer to apply eyeshadow.

Next, is the Real Techniques Stippling Brush. This was my first proper brush purchase along with the next one you'll see, and it was a wise choice on my behalf! I can use this for foundation, which I do if I'm feeling in a more relaxed, take your time kind of mood, or I can use it to ensure concealer is blended, apply cream blush and bronzer (probably my favourite!) or to press powder into foundation for a longer lasting effect. You can find this in both Boots (£11.99) and Superdrug (£10.99). If I'm planning on buying a few of the single brushes from Samantha Chapman's range, I'll usually wait for a 3 for 2 deal as that is by far the most bargainous way to go about it!

The penultimate one, is another Real Techniques offering. (I just could not restrain myself from including them. I mean, it wouldn't be the same without them haha!) This is the blush brush which retails in Boots (£9.99) and also Superdrug for the same price. I use this for an all manner of powder products, and I adore how the end is slightly tapered so I can swoosh lightly (professional lingo there - not) under my cheekbones to contour. I think this is my favourite brush out of the whole lot!

Lastly is a bit of a wild card you may think, as it was a brand neither me nor most likely you knew about! I just kind of stumbled across it and thought 'hmm... well I'll give that a go...!'
I discovered this in Tesco's for £6.50, on sale from £8.50. I've found a link to it on Amazon as I couldn't see it on the Tesco website at first glance. As every single brush featured in this post is, the powder brush is very soft and doesn't shed what so ever when I wash it with baby shampoo or olive oil. As the name suggests, I do indeed use this for powdering which it does a good job at and I would be lying if I said I didn't marvel at its softness every time it touches my skin!

Edit: I've also found the So Eco brush on Fragrance Direct for cheaper!

That's the end of the post, please recommend me some brushes in the comments or let me know if you own any of the same ones and we could be brush twins!

Thank you so much for reading today, come back soon!

Get To Know Me - Beauty Blogger Tag!

Hello everybody!

I saw this tag a couple of days ago and I absolutely loved it! I found on Kerri_Jane's blog, which you can visit here!

I guess I'll get started then!

1. Is your hair naturally curly or naturally straight?

Straight, it won't hold so much of a wave! It can do an annoying Balamory type flippy thing at the ends sometimes, and no matter how many salt sprays I tried, they never work!

2. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?

I've never ever dyed my hair before, because I'm quite happy with my natural colour and currently, there's not a shade I would actually like to be! If I was going to, I'd definitely go to a salon because I know I'd make a complete botched job of it.

3.  Do you wear the same style everyday, or do you change it?

For school, it's either up in a ponytail or simply down, or in a bun so I guess I change it a lot actually!

4. Do you do your own mani/pedi or do you go to a salon?

I'm a DIY person! I've only been to a salon once, and I got my fingernails done in CG Lubu Heels, but it actually was no different to how I could have done them at home, and I think it's overpriced but can be a nice treat once in a while.

5. How often do you change your nail polish?

I'd say every 3-4 days, I just pick them off... woops!

6. Do you polish your toes in the winter or just the summer?

I always forget in the winter, but when I remember I do them. In the summer I paint them much more often, and my current pedi is Essie Leading Lady if that's any interest to you hehe!

7. How long does it take for you to put on makeup?

I'd say round 15 minutes if I have that much time, but my mum knows I'll always leave it 5 minutes before and all she does is nag me to hurry up haha! Sometimes, when I'm a bit bored, I'll take off my makeup and put the whole thing on again, going crazy with colours and eyelashes! I can spend up to an hour doing that, but don't worry, I don't go out with it on!

8. What do you do first? Face or eyes?

Normally it's face as I don't tend to got extremely heavy on the eyes, but if I'm doing something darker or putting it on someone else, it's eyes first. My mum is attending a wedding soon so I'll be doing her makeup and eyes will be first then! If I forget, I've got a fan brush which works nicely at dusting off that fall out!

9. Do you collect makeup or buy what you need when you need it?

As much as I want to say that it's the second option, it isn't! I'm sure no one needs around 14 blushes, but somehow I manage to convince myself it's okay! The only time I do actually buy when I need something is if a holy grail item runs out like my concealers. Once, I've found something I love, I usually stop collecting that type of particular item.

10. How often do you wear false eyelashes?

Never! I've worn them twice, once to for dinner at my nans house and the other messing around. I'm not too bad at applying them though, and once again I'll be using them on my mum for the wedding, but the glue I have isn't strong enough! If you have time, please recommend some which will make them last all day!

11. Do you wear a full face of makeup everyday?

Not really. Mainly, I cover my dark circles and blemishes, put on some mascara and blush and sometimes if I have some minutes to spare, that's when eyeshadow comes into place.

12. Do you wear makeup when you're home alone or with family?

I don't mind wearing no makeup with my family, because they're your family, you know? Hopefully they won't judge you as much as the people in the street would! Sometimes when I'm in my room, as I said before, I'll plonk a load on to mess around which can be fun!

13. Will you leave the house without makeup?

Yeah, I don't really mind unless I have a huge blinking spot on my cheek!

14. How many high end products do you have?

Not many at all! I'm a drugstore person, so I can list them...

- Mac Neo Nebula Eyeshadow
- Mac Select Moisturecover Concealer NW15
- Benetint Sample
- Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara
- Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light Bisque
- Urban Decay Naked Basics

I'm pleased with what I own, because they're all carefully thought out purchases which are part of my daily routine.

15. Do you plan your OOTD each night or when you're getting dressed?

I'm an organised person, but when it comes to clothes I'll wake up, open my wardrobe, and just stare at it as if something will appear out of nowhere.

16. How often do you change your handbag?

Once every week I'd say, I have about 5 cheap ones which are from highstreet shops that I change to go with what I'm wearing.

17. What time do you wake up and go to sleep?

I wake up around 7am, and go to sleep around 10pm which is later than it used to be, I kind of go to sleep later each night and it gets later and later - woops!

18. How often or when do you workout?

Extremely rarely! I sometimes do a few sit ups, and after around 10 it hurts too much and because I have no willpower, I stop, catch my breath and stumble over to the sofa to return to my much loved Kardashians show. Yup, sad!

19.  Left handed or right handed?

Righty over here!

20. How tall are you?

A few months ago I measured and I was 5ft 9", but I've grown since then (I don't seem to stop...!) so probably more like 5ft 9.5" or 10".

21. Do you speak any foreign languages?

I'm learning Spanish, and I love it!

22. How many pets do you have?

Two dogs, which are treated like my little babies!

23. How often are you on blogger?

At least 10 times everyday. I check it so often it's unreal!

24. Do you read comments posted on blogs?

I do actually! I like it if someone asks a question in the post for the readers to reply, and I look through what everyone thinks.

25. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?

In my head I do! Sometimes I'll make little notes on my IPad if I'm a bit bored, and that'll be my shopping list!

26.  How did you come up with your blog name?

I was scrolling through my old blog, and I came across my post on an NYC nail polish called 'Pier 17', so I thought, hey! The Beauty Pier!

27. What kind of camera do you use for your photographs?

As much as I'd love to sit her and go 'oooh I use a posh Canon DSLR', it's actually a digital camera purchased in Florida 7 years ago! I need to save for a nice camera, but I can't (or just won't)!

28. How often do you clean your house?

Obviously, I live with my mum, dad and brother so my responsibility is kind of my room, which I don't do often!

29.  What's your favourite colour?

I think orange... no... mint green (how blogger of me haha) or I don't even know... baby pink? Ahhh I'm not sure!

30. Do you swear?

Only if I've stubbed my toe or if I'm angry...!

31. What are you doing with the rest of your day?

Going to see my friend!

I hope you enjoyed that, it was fun to write! Perhaps you could give it a go?

The Best Under Eye Combo w/ Before and After

Hello again!
I'm here today to talk about the problem I always face - dark circles. I'm sure they're hereditary because they never go away, even if I've had 10 hours sleep and they've always been there. I think I've found my favourite combination yet to combat these rings, so I'm going to share it with you! I hope you'll find this helpful if you suffer with under eye darkness as well!
The perfect couple pictured above include the Bobbi Brown Corrector and Mac Select Moisturecover concealer. Both of these are creasing masterminds, but with powder the last very well until I wish to remove them.
The shade I have in the Mac concealer is NW15, which is actually a little dark but it does the job perfectly and I'm starting to tan a bit now so I've grown to like it.
On the other hand, with the BB corrector I've got the shade Light Bisque, which the counter lady colour matched me to. She was chewing gum in my face whilst doing so but other than that, I was pleased that I plucked up the courage to ask haha!
Here are the swatches. As you can see, the Moisturecover is very dewy, and the corrector is very pink to counteract blue shades under the eyes, I think...? (oh yeah rhyming...!)
I'll show you some pictures of these two products under my eyes now. Before I do so...
WARNING! THE FOLLOWING PHOTOGRAPHS CONTAIN EYEBROWS WHICH ARE IN SERIOUS NEED OF A PLUCK.
Bare eye area above.
One layer of the Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light Bisque.

Corrector and one layer of concealer.
I apply these using my ring finger as I find it warms the product and makes the texture a lot more workable. I use the Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush to powder, by pushing it into the skin gently, however the photos above are shown without as I didn't have it to hand.
I've always been a drugstore girl, and the only times I've splurged on higher end items are when it is my birthday. Other than that, I'm a Boots and Superdrug addict!
The corrector retails for £18.00, and the concealer is £15.00 however I got it for a total steal at £7.50 in a blog sale. (I've just been on the Mac website, they've put a lot of their prices up by 50p! Eyeshadows are now £12.50, skinfinishes £22... hmmm cheeky! Am I late to realise this?)
So, the combination is £33.00. Wow. I dread the day when I have to repurchase them...!
That's all for today, what do you think?
Let me know your opinions about the Mac prices below, I'd love to hear what you have to say!
Thank you so much for reading,

L'Oreal Micellar Water Review

Hello everyone!

Today I'm here again to review the much covered micellar water from L'Oreal. An apparent Bioderma dupe, this promises to 'dissolve makeup', 'unclog pores and remove impurities' as well as 'tone and soothe the skin'. I know this has been reviewed many a time recently, but hopefully you'll still find this helpful!

Let's begin by talking packaging. I do actually like the rectangular shape as it is easier to store than a cylinder design. I like the white lid too!

I'll analyse each claim...

'1. Dissolves makeup' -  I can agree with this one. It is very effective at removing pretty much everything accept waterproof mascara and eyeliner.

'2. Unclogs pores and removes impurities' - I don't really agree in this aspect, because I haven't noticed any difference in my pores at all.

'3.Tones and soothes skin' - I do agree this is soothing, perfect after a hot day!

Because I'm in an informative mood, here are some pictures which you might find useful!

Above I've squirted a small amount onto a cotton pad. I'm using this to remove what you'll see on my arm below, which is concealer, shimmer brick, cheek tint, waterproof mascara, black eyeshadow and a matte red lippy.

I swiped it once across my arm, and below you'll see what's left!

I don't think that's bad at all for once across my arm. With a second swipe, everything else was gone but the waterproof mascara which took around 20 to be removed fully! I expected this because it is so gentle, and not greasy at all as I find more oily removers to work much better on waterproof items for me. On the bright side, it does actually remove non waterproof mascara, which for me has been Benefit They're Real.

Usually I'll use two cotton pads to dissolve everything on my face before washing it as usual with a foaming cleanser or scrub. I don't like to leave this on my skin for too long because I find it a little sticky.

Overall, I'm quite liking this product. It removes my face makeup perfectly which is what I purchased it for and doesn't break me out of irritate my skin in any manner.

If you're not sure whether to cave into the hype yet, I would say that if you're looking for something light that will remove your makeup, then yes, give it a try!

Before I go, I'd like to share a couple of links which are of my friend Jenna's new videos on YouTube! I found them hilarious, and maybe you will too, so if you have time give them a watch! They involve her adorable Jack Russell Bailey too!

Thank you so much for reading everybody!

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

Hello everyone!

I'm trying to get a blog sale up and running for Monday, which is why posts have been slow because I've been busy sorting.

Today I'm here to talk about the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette. I purchased this on my birthday and as you will all know, it is priced at £20 which is reasonable for the little sister of the other Naked palettes.

Inside, there are 6 shades, all of which are matte apart from one which is a shimmer highlight colour. I've been thoroughly enjoying using it in my daily makeup routine, therefore I think it's time to share!

The packaging is a bronze/gold shade, but it has a suede effect which makes it feel very luxurious. The writing is in a brown, raised lettering and overall, it is truly beautiful and definitely looks the price.

I did expect it to be bigger when I got it, but for reference, it is smaller than Sleek Face Form if you have that, and it fits snuggly in the palm of my hand.

I'm not an eyebrow person, being as I was lucky enough to be blessed with ones that are very dark and thick, and to put it straight, if I fill them in I look like an angry bird. However, I think you could use a couple of the colours in this palette for eyebrows if you're off somewhere and don't want to take much with you, because this is so slim and compact it will fit in the side of your makeup big effortlessly.

Below are some swatches, in the order they are seen in the palette. We have...

Venus, Foxy, W.O.S (Walk of Shame), Naked 2, Faint and Crave.

You can't really see W.O.S, as it is very similar to my skin tone, perhaps a little more pink. I adore this on lazy days to just blank out my lid and brighten it up. I also love Naked 2, which I didn't expect, but it is the perfect shade to contour the eye socket. It appears so light, as if it wouldn't do much at all, but it looks very polished when you apply it! Another thing I like to do is use Faint as an eyeliner, because it is the perfect brown to blend into the lashes to give a defined but not scary eye.
I've hardly used the black, Crave, as I'm never a black shadow/liner person.

The texture of these is beautiful, not too soft and not too chalky. They blend amazingly and the staying power is the best I've ever seen, well over 12 hours for me but I'm not a sufferer of oily lids.

If you're off on a shopping spree and there's an UD counter nearby, believe me, and just give them a swatch! You won't be disappointed :)

Thank you for reading, I do appreciate it!

The Biggest Haul I've EVER Done! w/ Next Sale, Primark, Blog Sale and MORE!

*This has been re posted because I was just reading through and found some pictures are missing! Have another read if you'd like to actually see the Next items haha :) *

Hello! Do you remember me? I hope so, it's been over a week and I've been wanting to write this post since my last, but homework has gone into overdrive as it's nearing the end of the academic year.

For about 2 and a half weeks I've kept these items to show you, so let's get into it!

Firstly, I had a trip to Tescos. I visited one with a 'beauty hall' so I was in my element and restrained myself to 3 things.

I purchased this So Eco brush, which is for powder. The writing on the back had me sold, as it is all sustainable and natural. This was £6.50 I believe, on sale from £8.50 which isn't t a major difference but  the quality is amazing, and the bristles are very soft. I don't own a brush for powder o that was my sad justification or this buy!

Then I spotted a Balmi lip balm, this one being raspberry. I know these are usually £4.99 which to me is on the expensive side if the drugstore. This was £2.99 so £2 off, which I could part with. I adore this but I mushed it up badly in the summer heat because it melted!

Lastly Tesco wise, is blotting sheets from Kleenex.
Yes, I did just get a powder brush but I much prefer blotting and these were all price at 74p! I got two because one was for my friend who said she wanted some but couldn't find any (hope you like them Dannii)!

Then in Asda I purchase the L'Oreal Purifying Micellar Water for £3 I believe (or £2.50...). I thought I'd buy it as the reviews were good, and I do like it, but it doesn't remove waterproof mascara!

I also picked up the cheapest eye makeup remover I could find. This was £1.50, and it is awful. It doesn't remove waterproof mascara at all like it claims to. I suppose it teaches me to stick to Nivea!

Then there's Primark. I've not been in there for a long time so I only just picked a couple of bits up, one being a pair of  dotty black runner shorts these were £4 and I'm loving them! If I find another pair, I'll get them to sleep in because these things are great! I also got some socks which I did want in pink but for £1.50, I settled with navy which I'll be keeping for colder winter days.

Then, The Sunday Girl had a blog sale! I got so excited and purchased 4 things. I've read her blog for about a year now so I knew I could trust her and the sale was incredible!

The first thing that caught my eye was a China Glaze nail polish in 'It's a Trapeze'. The base is white with many colours and sizes of glitter, something so unique that I had to have it, and for an absolute steal at £2.50!

Then I saw she had OPI Alpine Snow for sale. This was £3! Normally OPI polishes are £10+, so I was so pleased! I don't have a trusty white either, but this one has been given the thumbs up from so many people I had to try it.

There were so many Essies there too, £2.50 each. I wanted Fiji but I didn't put it on my list, just because I knew it would already be gone. Instead, I got Leading Lady, a beautiful classy red with red glitter.

Lastly blog sale wise, a Revlon Baby Stick. This was £1 and although reviews were bad, I thought that I'd try it. I can't remember the shade, but as you can see it's the red one. It has hardly any pigmented and generally isn't good what I expected. I just had to be curious and try it though!

Yesterday my nan and I had a nice day in the town centre, and whilst we were waiting for my mum to pick us up we had a look in Poundland. I spotted a Milani bronzer/blusher item, which looked rather good! The bronzer looked the perfect colour in the pan but swatched it's quite orange. Ah well, I like the blush part though!

Next up, a Revlon nail polish. Bit of a fun fact for you, I have around 10 Revlon polishes and I've only ever paid full price for one, the rest are pound store bargains! This one is 'Popular' which I think is also known as 'Starry Pink' and I thought this was an only US item, so I snapped it up quickly! I think if I have a blog sale this would go on it though, because thinking about it now I wouldn't actually wear it haha! Please let me know if you'd be interested in a blog sale!

I spotted a Dainty Doll 'Frankie Girl' eyeshadow base too, for £1! (It is a pound store!) I have two eye primers already but I could not leave it there!

Now for more Primark. These things were purchased a week later than the first lot I showed you.

As you can see, I got a pretty floral print pink and red dress for £13. It's a lovely material unlike some other dresses from Primark, and it looks very sweet with my white Next sandals! (Please leave me a comment and let me know what you'd think about a shoe collection post? I've reorganised and cleaned up so I'm happy with the ones I own now!)

I've got these sunnies already, but in brown and I got so excited that they suited me so I got black pair instead. These were £2.50.

Lastly, the Next SALE! I was brought up a Next child, my mum wouldn't dress me anything other than it! I still love Next now I'm in the ladies section, and I got a top and two makeup bags for a total of £10.

The top is a white, loose tee with burnout sections in a pretty swirly print. This was £6.

The first of two makeup bags was a green and yellow printed teeny one. This was £2 from £4.50 and I thought it would be great to take to school.

The LAST item from this huge post, is a blue and black snake print makeup bag for again, £2. I thought this would be great for brushes as it is quite long.

Well, that was a LONG post!

I hope you enjoyed it, please please please let me know what you thought, what you liked or what would be nice to see in the future! I'm looking forward to the holidays, it means more time to blog!

If you've made it to the end of this post, I salute you!

Thanks so much for reading,
